FIFA and Sony Music Entertainment announced that "Time For Africa", a colaboration between global superstar Shakira and critically acclaimed South African music group Freshlyground, has been chosen as the Official Anthem of the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cupin South Africa. "Time For Africa" will be among the songs featured on "Listen Up: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album", which will be released by Sony Music Entertainment in the weeks preceding the event, which begins June11, 2010.

Se poate ca asemanarile dintre Pat si Grace sa fi fost motivul pentru care Marilyn s-a apropiat de ea atat de repede.(...) Pat se simtea atrasa de farmecul si stralucirea actritei, in timp ce Marilyn tanjise dintotdeauna sa aiba parte de siguranta si stabilitatea financiara de care se bucura Pat.(...) Cele doua femei s-au apropiat foarte rapid. Fiul lui Pat, Christopher, isi aduce aminte de mama lui si de Marilyn:"Marilyn avea o voce calma, imi zambea si iesea sa se plimbe pe nisip cu mama. Mama mi-a spus ca Marilyn era pentru ea un fel de sora mai mica. O uimea faptul ca Marilyn era atat de deschisa cu ea. Mama mea nu provenea dintr-un mediu in care emotiile si sentimentele se etalau in public. Marilyn Monroe avea incredere in sentimentele mamei mele pentru ea."(...) Prietenia cu Pat luase o turnura interesanta, in sensul ca Pat dorea sa impartaseasca cu ceilalti ceea ce Marilyn prefera sa pastreze pentru ea insasi. Cred ca a inceput sa o sune de cate ori avea probleme, asa cum facea cu noi toti. Cred ca lui Pat ii placea lucrul asta. Parerea mea e ca isi dorea s-o ajute pe Marilyn, desi nu stiu sigur de ce, cu exceptia faptului ca ...ei bine, toata lumea dorea s-o ajute pe Marilyn. Avea aerul acela de vulnerabilitate care te facea sa-ti doresti sa ai grija de ea, si cred ca si Pat Kennedy Lawford a fost marcata de lucrul asta." In iulie 1960, Pat a invitat-o pe Marilyn la ceremonia in care fratele ei, John F. Kennedy accepta nominalizarea Partidului Democrat la alegerile prezidentiale din SUA. Marilyn nu stia daca putea sa ajunga. A spus ca avea aranjate deja intalniri pentru "Inadaptatii". Cu toate acestea, Pat i-a spus ca daca va lipsi,"va lipsi de la un eveniment cu o semnificatie istorica." Asa ca Marilyn a acceptat sa participe la eveniment.(...) Totusi, dupa acea noapte, s-a intamplat ceva ciudat. Era clar, dupa parerea unora, ca cei doi isi facusera reciproc avansuri si exista un aer de ingrijorare. Jack Kennedy era binecunoscut pentru libidoul sau iesit din comun, astfel ca se aprindea un buton rosu in sediile de campanie ori de cate ori flirta cu o vedeta de cinema(...)"si probabil, o astfel de apropiere putea sa fie benefica pentru alegerea lui ca presedinte. Neajunsul era ca nu vei alege pe cineva presedinte daca isi neglijeaza sau inseala nevasta. Prin urmare, eram ingrijorati. Lui Marilyn i s-a explicat situatia foarte sincer. La fel si presedintelui. Eram foarte ingrijorati atunci. L-ar fi putut distruge." De fapt, Pat a fost cea care i-a explicat situatia lui Marilyn. O ruda a familiei Kennedy isi aminteste:"cineva din randul voluntarilor din campania lui Kennedy i-a spus lui Peter Lawford ca JFK flirteaza cu Marilyn. The 25-year-old Australian actress stars as Marilyn Monroe in "Blonde", a 4 hour miniseries directed by Joyce Chopra and based on Joyce Carol's novel. The miniseries, shot over 10 weeks in Melbourne, Australia, traces Monroe's career from aspiring actress to a studio creation - the proverbial dumb platinum blonde, attempting along the way to offer a three-dimensional look at the pop icon. ``Listen, you don't become Marilyn Monroe without talent, drive and smarts, especially coming from nothing. That part of her personality has been seriously overlooked,'' says Poppy Montgomery,who has been trying to get inside the skin of the enigmatic icon for months. "There were so many layers to her personality," Montgomery says. "She was smart, but she really wanted to fall in love and have children. She wasn't just a victim." Montgomery admits to being a fan of Marilyn's and says that was part of the draw in doing the film. And getting the role of the sex goddess must have been in the stars for Montgomery, who landed the part a week after auditioning on videotape. "I never met the executives, the producers, the director. It was really bizzare. I've had multiple auditions for roles a tenth of the size. I don't know how it happened, I'm just thrilled it did. It's rare you get to do a four-hour film where you're in every scene. ''When I told my mother I got the part of Marilyn Monroe, she didn't even bat an eyelash,'' recalls Poppy Montgomery. ''She said, 'Well, you've been rehearsing for it your whole life." While the Australian born ingenue might seem an odd choice to embody America's classic sex symbol, the 25 year old actress actually had no need of a Marilyn 101 crash course to star in CBS' ''Blonde.'' She grew up with posters of the powder skinned goddess plastered to her bedroom walls, has seen all of Monroe's movies, and read her biography at the age of 12. But what most impressed ''Blonde'' director Joyce Chopra about Montgomery was her interpretive approach to the role. ''Poppy in no way set out to imitate Marilyn,'' says Chopra. ''And by not imitating, I think she achieved a resemblance and was able to create a living, breathing character.'' The only aspect of Monroe that Montgomery did try to copy was her Rubenesque figure. ''I was probably 12 pounds heavier when we shot 'Blonde,''' says the wiry, self described junk food addict, who quit working out to gain weight for the part. Today, dressed for yoga, Montgomery screeches at the mention of a scene that features her round derriere in a snug white skirt. ''Who wants a close up of their butt on camera? It was just so there, and it was mine,'' she says. ''I should have gotten a body double!" It seems that most die-hard Marilyn Monroe fans dislike this movie because it doesn't tell her true story, and it bends some facts and dates to fit the story. While that's true, you have to remember that this is based on Joyce Carol Oates novel, "Blonde", which is a fictional account of Marilyn Monroe's life. The novel and the movie are both intended as works of fiction and shouldn't be read as a biography of her life and work. If that's what you're looking for, then pick up a biography (you have plenty to choose from). Otherwise, this is a decent, entertaining movie.

Daca nu intervenea Paula Strasberg, este foart posibil ca Marilyn sa fi murit atunci. Ca intotdeauna, ea a declarat ca nu dorise sa se sinucida.(...) In octombrie, se parea ca lucrurile se indreapta pe calea cea buna, cand Marilyn a aflat ca era din nou insarcinata. Desigur, a fost foarte incantata de aceasta veste. Acceptase deja sa primeasca un premiu in Franta, insa era fericita ca are un motiv bun sa refuze invitatia. Intr-o telegrama Western Union de doua pagini, adresata Academiei de Film din Paris, datata 26 noiembrie 1958, Marilyn spune, printre altele:"Am asteptat cu mare nerabdare sa vin la Paris si sa primesc premiul pe care mi l-ati acordat cu atat bunavointa. Cu toate acestea, natura si-a spus cuvantul si astept un copil. Din cauza unor complicatii recente, doctorul mi-a interzis calatoriile de orice fel." Nu se stie clar ce credea Arthur Miller despre sarcina, in ciuda faptului ca nu parea foarte incantat. "In acest moment, cred ca Marilyn l-a indepartat pe Arthur din mintea ei si a inceput sa se gandeasca la faptul ca poate sa aiba acest copil fara sotul ei si sa-si continue viata; cel putin, n-ar mai fi fost singura," a spus Rupert Allan. "Insa, marea problema a sarcinii lui Marilyn erau medicamentele pe care aceasta le lua...Asta a fost o problema." In acea perioada, Marilyn lua, pe langa alte medicamente cu reteta, si nembutal, un somnifer care calma nervii si provoca un somn rapid. Leon Krohn, ginecologul ei, se impotrivea tuturor medicamentelor, insa si-a dat seama ca fara ele Marilyn nu putea sa traiasca. I-a explicat riscul consumului de alcool combinat cu nembutal si alte medicamente si a sperat ca o poate monitoriza atent, insa pe Marilyn nu puteai s-o stapanesti. Cand venea vorba de medicamente, Marilyn Monroe gasea intotdeauna o modalitate sa le ia, daca simtea nevoia.(...) La 16 decembrie 1958, Marilyn a suferit un avort spontan. Avea sa spuna ca s-a simtit mai singura ca niciodata. De asemenea, se simtea foarte vinovata din cauza medicamentelor pe care le luase in timpul sarcinii si se temea ca este responsabila de moartea copilului.(...) In iunie a facut cateva analize ca sa vada daca mai putea sa aiba copii. Concluzia a fost ca nu. Melissa Steinberg, fiica dr Oscar Steinberg, care i-a fcut una dintre analize, isi aminteste:"Nu a fost bine deloc. A trebuit sa-i spuna ca nu poate face copii, ceea ce a fost ingrozitor pentru el. Dupa cum mi-a povestit, a intrat in camera sa-i spuna vestea proasta, iar ea a zis stiu deja, stiu deja.Medicul i-a spus apoi ca-si va boteza prima fiica cu numele ei, ceea ce a si facut. Era foarte, foarte trista. Stiu ca era ingrijorat din pricina ei. A primit lovitura in plin." Intriga filmului "Sa ne iubim" o prezinta pe Marilyn in rolul actritei de comedie muzicala, Amanda Dell, care joaca intr-un spectacol de revista din afara Broadway-ului.(...) Scenariul slab a obligat-o sa se bazeze pe imaginea care-i asigura succesul de bomba sexy blonda, ca sa salveze filmul de la esec.(...) Totusi, acesta a fost bine primit. Daily Variety i-a acordat o cronica surprinzator de elogioasa, din care citam:"cam la 12 minute dupa inceperea filmului, ecranul devine negru dintr-o data...si un singur reflector o scoate in evidenta pe Marilyn Monroe purtand colanti negri si un pulover larg din lana. Anunta pe un ton potrivit ca numele ei este Lolita si ca nu are voie sa se joace cu baieti, deoarece inima ei ii apartine tatei. Aceasta scena lanseaza primul moment dintr-un ciclu de numere de revista construite cu grija si reprezinta una dintre cele mai reusite intrari ale unei vedete pe ecran; este caracteristica intregului film, care a preluat o tema nu foarte originala si a transformat-o in ceva nou."
