RED RIDING HOOD

From the director Catherine Hardwicke comes the romantic fantasy thriller "Red Riding Hood". The movie features an ensemble cast, led by Amanda Seyfried in the title role.
In "Red Riding Hood", Amanda plays Valerie, a beautiful young woman, torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter, but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry. Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie's older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice. But under a blood red moon, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon, to help them kill the wolf. But Solomon's arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them.
As the death toll rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves. As panic grips the town, Valerie discovers that she has a unique connection to the beast - one that draws them together, making her both suspect...and bait.

BURLESQUE

In the last decade, pop divas haven't exactly had the best track record on the silver screen. Now it's Christina Aguilera's turn to show her skills, which she attempts to do in "Burlesque," a star-is-born drama out in November from Screen Gems. The singer plays Ali, the prototypical small-town girl with starry eyes who buses herself all the way from Iowa to the Hollywood sign to fulfill her dreams of stardom. She starts waiting tables at a "neo-burlesque" club, run by the world-weary Tess (Cher). Ali tries to convince the lounge's owner that she has what it takes to be a part of the club's act, but Tess and her surly counterpart, Sean, don't think she has the chops. That is, until she gets on stage and belts out a song like — well, Christina Aguilera.

THE LAST EXORCISM

The film is told from the perspective of a disillusioned evangelical minister, who after years of performing exorcisms decides to participate in a documentary chronicling his last exorcism while exposing the fraud of his ministry. After receiving a letter from a farmer asking for help in driving out the devil, he meets the farmer's afflicted daughter.
The Reverend Cotton Marcus lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with his wife and son. Marcus is accustomed to performing exorcisms on "possessed" individuals, but his faith has waned after reading of an autistic child being killed during an exorcism, reminding him of his own disabled son. He comes to realize that he attributes the healing of his son to science, and not to Jesus Christ. He agrees to take part in a documentary designed to expose exorcism as a fraud, working with a film crew consisting of producer/director Iris Reisen and cameraman Dave Moskowitz. At random, he chooses a plea letter from an individual seeking an exorcism leading him to the farmhouse of Louis Sweetzer, a man who claims to have a possessed daughter named Nell. Prior to the exorcism, Marcus plants hidden speakers and electronic props so he can bamboozle the family into believing he is driving out a demon. After the ritual, Marcus and his film crew leave believing they have cured her of a mental state that was misdiagnosed as a possession by a powerful demon Abalam. Prior to the exorcism, Marcus plants hidden speakers and electronic props so he can bamboozle the family into believing he is driving out a demon. After the ritual, Marcus and his film crew leave believing they have cured her of a mental state that was misdiagnosed as possession. That night, Nell mysteriously appears in Marcus' hotel room. The team tries to contact Louis to get permission to film her, to no avail. Wishing to prove his point, Marcus admits Nell to the hospital for testing, hoping to receive a medical or psychological diagnosis proving demonic possession is not the cause of her illness. The doctor concludes that Nell is in perfect physical condition. In the morning, her father takes her home and chains her in her room for slicing her brother Caleb in the face.

The film was shot using shaky camera, it was also shot in 'found footage'.
The Last Exorcism has been announced to be slated for release on Blu-ray on January 4, 2011.
The film remained in the top five, falling to number four in its second weekend.

BLOOD AND CHOCOLATE

Werewolves have been known by various names - shapeshifters, succubi, demons...and loup garoux. An outgrouth of mythology as old as civilization itself, tales of werewolves and shapeshifters have cropped up around dissapearances, murders, violence and death throughout history. "They express fear of the unknown," notes director Katja von Garnier, "but more than that, they express fear of the unknown within the known - the hidden predator living undetected amongst humanity, the hidden animal within the man."
"I think that everybody is fascinated by them," says cast-member Bryan Dick. "I don't think there's a person who has not watched a werewolf film or been interested in the fantasy of shapeshifters and that kind of moonlight world. It's very appealing and it's also very sexy."
The story of "Blood and Chocolate" explores the ideea through a star-crossed love story. "It really is about these people just trying to fit in and survive in the modern civilized world", says Agnes Bruckner. "Hopefully, we haven't done an injustice to the myths as they stand, we've just reinvented them and given them a new twist."
Ten years ago, in the remote mountains of Colorado, a young girl watched helplessly as her family was murdered by a pack of angry men for the secret they carried in their blood. She survived by running into the woods, and changing into something the hunters could never find...a wolf.
Living in relative safety in Bucharest, Vivian spends her days working at a chocolate shop and nights trawling the city's underground clubs, fending off the reckless antics of her cousin Rafe and his gang of delinquents he calls "The Five".
Aiden Galvin is an artist researching Bucharest's ancient art and relics for his next graphic novel bassed on the mythology of the loup garoux - shapeshifters whose power to change into the forms of both human and wolf was once considered holy among men. During a chance encounter in an abandoned church celebrating the loup garoux, Aiden comes face to face with the real thing...Vivian. Vivian is among the last of her kind, leading a tenous existance under the protection and control of Gabriel, the powerful and enigmatic leader of one of the last packs of loup garoux on earth. To keep their kind from being hunted to extinction, Gabriel holds them to strict laws. One is that he must take a new bride every seven years, and Vivian has been prophesied to be his next. The other is that the pack must hunt as one or not at all. It is the very key to their survival. On the night of the full moon, the gather as one in the woods outside the city. Though the wolves are outnumbered by man, on the night of the hunt, they can e who they truly are - hunting a single chosen human as a pack. If their prey reaches the other side of the river, he will be allowed to live...but no human has ever reached the river.
Though Vivian has sworn never to kill, she is as much animal as she is human, and her love for Aiden threatens to cast him to the very wolves who saved her life...and who are waiting for their chance to hunt him as prey.

JENNIFER'S BODY

Jennifer's Body is a 2009 black comedy horror film written by Diablo Cody and directed by Karyn Kusama. The film stars Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Brody and Johnny Simmons. Fox portrays a newly-possessed teenage serial killer specializing in killing her male classmates as her best friend strives to stop her. The film premiered at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in the United States and Canada on September 18, 2009. The title is a reference to the song of the same name by Hole on their album Live Through This. As a tie-in to the film, Boom! Studios produced a Jennifer's Body graphic novel, released in August 2009.

Needy and popular flag girl Jennifer Check have been best friends since childhood, despite having little in common. One night, Jennifer takes Needy to a local dive bar to attend a concert by indie rock band Low Shoulder. A suspicious fire engulfs the bar, killing several spectators, and Jenifer is taken by the band despite Needy's attempts to stop her. Later that evening, Jennifer, covered in blood, appears in Needy's kitchen and proceeds to eat food from the refrigerator. Now possessed by a demon and, subsequently altered into a succubus, Jennifer sets out on a bloody rampage in which she devours boys, and it is up to Needy to stop her. In sort of a reversal aspect of how puberty changes a girl's life, Jennifer must consume the blood of others once a month or she becomes weak and plain-looking.

Megan Fox was in negotiations to star as Jennifer Check since the film was announced in 2007, and was officially cast in October 2007. Fox said the reason she agreed to the role was her love for the script. "I think what I loved about the movie is it’s so unapologetic and how completely inappropriate it is at all times," she said. "That was my favorite part about the script and about the character. It’s fun to be able to say the shit that she got to say and get away with it and how people find it charming." She said despite this aspect of the business being intimidating, she enjoyed portraying the character. "I wasn’t really sure what I was doing," said Fox. "I was just trying to have fun with it and I felt like I was able to make fun of my own image as to how some people might perceive Megan Fox to be. I was just sort of flying freely and I hope some of it works".
Handling the film's special effects were KNB EFX GROUP and the Moving Picture Company (MPC). For Jennifer's demonic form, the creators used different techniques. "I actually wasn't in [the makeup chair] that much because they created an entire head. They did a live cast of me from the shoulders up. They created me and then put the teeth in," stated Fox. "To save my face, they had a photo double that would come in and do most of the crazy monster makeup - they would do that on her. So it would go from me, then in post-production it would somehow go to her and the fake head. They would mix them all together." For "the vomit scene" where Jennifer has just arrived at Needy's house after being murdered and inhabited by a demon, Fox said the liquid she was given to spit out "was actually ...chocolate syrup initially". "We did a few takes where I would just do this scream and sort of puke Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Scratch the Hershey’s because I don’t want to endorse that or anything," she stated. "And then, special effects did a rig that clamps onto my ear and you revisit it in the pool scene..." Fox said it "clips on. It goes around the back of my ear and then I bite down on it on the side of my face, like this, and it projectiles. It’s a tube..."

The film was released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 29, 2009 in the USA and Canada. In Australia, the DVD and Blu-ray was released on May 18, 2010.

As a tie-in to the film, Boom! Studios produced a Jennifer's Body graphic novel. The novel expands on the film's universe and Jennifer's murders of the boys. It was written by Black Metal's Rick Spears, with the first nine pages illustrated by Jim Mahfood (Clerks). Two covers, in Fox's likeness, were designed; one for the direct market by Eric Jones (available only in comic specialty stores), and the other by Frank Cho for the mass market focusing more on "hellish Jennifer stories" with art by Mahfood, Hack/Slash's Tim Seely, DMZ's Nikki Cook, and Popgun's Ming Doyle. The novel was released in August 2009.

The novel features less of Jennifer than the film, but does capture her "going in for the kill" several times. It focuses heavily on following her soon-to-be victims and provides information on their personalities not elaborated on in the film so that readers can better conclude whether the boys deserved to be murdered. The novel consists of four chapters, with a prologue and an epilogue, with art provided for each by different artists. Each one follows a different boy and what is happening in his life just before Jennifer kills him. On creating the story, Spears stated, "The best part for me as a writer was to show some events from the movie from a different point of view, sort of like Rashomon for you Kurosawa fans. And with comics we can get into the character’s heads in a way that works well in comics and novels more so than in film." He stated, "...I was using the medium to change what we really know about these characters and twist around what we see in the movies. All the academics aside, it’s also very funny and gore splattered."

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL

Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is the fourth film in the Indiana Jones franchise, created by George Lucas and directed by Steven Spielberg. Released nineteen years after the previous film, the film acknowledges its star Harrison Ford's age by setting itself in 1957. It pays tribute to the science fiction B-movies of the era, pitting Indiana Jones against Soviet agents – led by Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett) – for a psychic alien crystal skull. Indiana is aided by his former lover Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) and their son Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf). Ray Winstone, John Hurt, and Jim Broadbent are also part of the supporting cast. Shooting began on June 18, 2007, and took place in various locations: New Mexico; New Haven, Connecticut; Hawaii; Fresno, California; and on soundstages in Los Angeles. To keep aesthetic continuity with the previous films, the crew relied on traditional stunt work instead of computer-generated stunt doubles, and cinematographer Janusz KamiÅ„ski studied Douglas Slocombe's style from the previous films. Marketing relied heavily on the public's nostalgia for the series, with products taking inspiration from all four films. Anticipation for the film was heightened by secrecy, which resulted in a legal dispute over an extra violating his non-disclosure agreement and the arrest of another man for stealing a computer containing various documents related to the production. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released worldwide on May 22, 2008, and was a financial success, grossing over $786 million worldwide, becoming the second highest grossing film of 2008. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, but fan reaction was mixed. During the late 1970s, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg made a deal with Paramount Pictures for five Indiana Jones films. Following the 1989 release of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Lucas let the series end as he felt he could not think of a good plot device to drive the next installment, and chose instead to produce The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, which explored the character in his early years. Indiana Jones remains one of cinema's most revered movie characters. In 2003, he was ranked as the second greatest movie hero of all time by the American Film Institute. He was also named the sixth greatest movie character by Empire magazine. Entertainment Weekly ranked Indy 2nd on their list of The All-Time Coolest Heroes in Pop Culture. Premiere magazine also placed Indy at number 7 on their list of The 100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time. Since his first appearance in Raiders of the Lost Ark, he has become a worldwide star. On their list of the 100 Greatest Fictional Characters, Fandomania.com ranked Indy at number 10.

WALT DISNEY: THE LITTLE MERMAID

The Little Mermaid is a 1989 American animated film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of the same name. Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, the film was originally released to theaters on November 17, 1989 and is the twenty-eighth film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. During its initial release, The Little Mermaid earned $89 million in North American box office revenue, and has to date earned $211 million in total international gross. Ariel, a sixteen-year-old mermaid princess, is dissatisfied with life under the sea and curious about the human world. With her best fish friend Flounder, Ariel collects human artifacts and goes to the surface of the ocean to visit Scuttle the seagull, who offers very inaccurate and comical knowledge of human culture. Ignoring the warnings of her father (King Triton) and court musician (Sebastian the crab) that contact between merpeople and humans is forbidden Ariel still longs to be part of the human world; to this end she has filled a secret grotto with all the human artifacts she has found. Sebastian, who is assigned to watch over Ariel and be sure she does not visit the surface again, tries to convince her that its better to live under the sea than in the human world. One night, Ariel, Flounder and an unwilling Sebastian travel to the ocean surface to watch a celebration for the birthday of Prince Eric, with whom Ariel falls in love. A sudden storm hits, during which everyone manages to escape in a lifeboat--except for Eric who goes back to rescue his dog Max. He almost drowns saving Max but is saved by Ariel, who drags him to the beach. Although it seems that his heart isn't beating, Ariel notices that Eric is breathing. She sings to him but dives underwater when Max returns to Eric. Upon waking, Eric has a vague impression that he was rescued by a girl with a beautiful voice; he vows to find her, and Ariel vows to find a way to join Eric. She is convinced by a pair of eels that she must visit Ursula, the sea witch, if she wants all her dreams to come true. Ursula makes a deal with Ariel to transform her into a human for three days. Within these three days, Ariel must receive the 'kiss of true love' from Eric; otherwise, she will transform back into a mermaid on the third day and belong to Ursula. As payment for legs, Ariel has to give up her voice, which Ursula takes by magically removing the energy from Ariel's vocal chords and storing it in a nautilus shell. Ariel's tail is transformed into legs and Sebastian and Flounder drag her to the surface. Meanwhile, Triton discovers Ariel and Sebastian's disappearance and, wracked with guilt over his behaviour, orders a search for them.
More money and resources were dedicated to Mermaid than any other Disney animated film in decades.
Another first for recent years was the filming of live actors and actresses for motion reference material for the animators, a practice used frequently for many of the Disney animated features produced under Walt Disney's supervision. Broadway actress Jodi Benson was chosen to play Ariel, and Sherri Lynn Stoner, a former member of Los Angeles' Groundlings improvisation comedy group, acted out Ariel's key scenes. Effects animation supervisor Mark Dindal estimated that over a million bubbles were drawn for this film, in addition to the use of other processes such as airbrushing, backlighting, superimposition, and some computer animation. The film was also screened out of competition at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. In a then atypical and controversial move for a new Disney animated film, The Little Mermaid was released as part of the Walt Disney Classics line of VHS and Laserdisc home video releases in May 1990, eight months after the release of the film. Mermaid became that year's top-selling title on home video, with over 10 million units sold. The Little Mermaid was released in a Limited Issue "bare-bones" DVD in 1999, with a standard video transfer and no substantial features. The film was re-released on DVD on October 3, 2006, as part of the Walt Disney Platinum Editions line of classic Walt Disney animated features. The film won two of the awards, for Best Song ("Under the Sea") and Best Score. The film also earned four Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture - Comedy or Musical, and won the awards for Best Song ("Under the Sea") and Best Score. In addition to the box office and critical success of the film itself, the Mermaid soundtrack album earned two awards at the 33rd Grammy Awards in 1991 - for Best Recording for Children and Best Instrumental Composition written for a Motion Picture or Television. To date, the soundtrack has been certified six times platinum.

BAD MEAT

Elisabeth Harnois will star the lead role in the upcoming horror movie "Bad Meat". The gore-filled flick will center on troubled teens who send their parents to boot camp, only to find the tables have turned on them. Filming shut down it seems, because the money reportedly dried up and due to "non-payment of actor salaries". Problems began when shooting was delayed by ten days, however, when principal photography ceased, actors and various crew members began to head home. The movie is about a group of so-called "problem teens"who are sent by their parents to a repressive Boot Camp in the middle of nowhere, in the hope that the strict regime will transform them into youthful model citizens that their parents can be proud of. However the kids refuse to play ball, and tensions emerge between them as they try to resist the guards' sadistic methods. Meanwhile, the camp's down-trodden cook has also tired of the abuse meted out to him by the guards, and fixes them a meal of illegal, diseased meat before he abandons the camp. But he doesn't know that the meat is infected with a virus, which instead of simply making the guards ill as he intended, transforms them into flesh-crazed maniacs. If our heroes are to make it to morning and survive the carnage, they must put aside their differences and work together. They're going to learn the lessons of maturity and responsibility - the hard way..

ALL MY CHILDREN

Former "Merlos Place", "Savannah" and "Stranger in my Bed" star Jamie Luner made her appearance on "All my Children" as Pine Valley's favorite vixens - Liza Colby. The show's head writer Chuck Pratt, who wrote for the siren during her two seasons on Melrose Place, brought Luner to AMC . In a recent TV Guide interview he touted her arrival to the soap: "Back then, Jamie's nickname on the set was 'Turbo' because she's such a ball of energy and you can throw anything at her."With high expectations and a huge promotional campaign, the ABC sudser is hoping to regain some viewers by returning the character to her scheming ways. For many years, the wonderful Marcy Walker played the role of Liza. Walker is now a children's ministry director in a North Carolina church, a far cry from the role that made her a star. Luner is taking a fresh approach to the role with a no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners outlook.
