Investigator Katherine Winter is a debunker of modern "miracles", bringing scientific light to superstition and fraud. But events in tiny Haven defy even her expertise. There, the 10 Biblical Plagues seem to be reoccurring; and the more she seeks answers, the more she questions her own beliefs. Filming for the movie took place in and around Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with many scenes shot in an abandoned WalMart store. When Hurricane Katrina occured midshoot, the production of the film was suspended for one week. The DVD special features record that the producers considered shooting in another city but decided that Louisiana needed the economic benefit of the movie being shot there.
