When the term "milkshake" was first used in print in 1885, milkshakes were an alcoholic whiskey drink. However, by 1900 the term referred to "wholesome drinks made with chocolate, strawberry or vanilla syrups". In the late 1930s, several newspaper articles show that the term "frosted" was used to refer to milkshakes made with ice cream. All in all, here are some recipes that I've picked up for everyone out there who loves this delicious drink. CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE: 1 cup chocolate ice cream, 2 cups of milk, 3-4 tablespoons chocolate syrup. Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. BANANA CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE: 1 cup of milk,2 tablespoons cocoa, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 medium sliced banana, ice cubes. First pour the milk in a blender, add cocoa then blend on low speed until is well mixed. Add sugar, vanilla and banana. Blend until smooth. STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE: 1 cup milk, 1 cup strawberry ice cream, 2 cups strawberries, ice. Put all the ingredients in a blender. CHERRY MILKSHAKE: 200g vanilla ice cream, 2 tablespoons of milk, 150g cherries. Remove cherry stalk and pit from each cherry. Blend the ice cream, milk and the pitted cherries till smooth. As for a garnishing idea top with marshmallows and chopped cherries like in the picture above.
