Wolves have always stirred the human imagination, capturing our hearts. Perhaps the most heartfelt appeal of the wolf is the expressive nature of its face because unlike other animals, the wolf can express how it feels through a variety of subtle facial gestures. There have been many stories written about wolves but the neither of them comperes to Jack London's "White Fang". The novel was first serialized in "The Outing Magazine" in 1906. It is the story of a wild wolf's journey toward becoming civilized in Yukon Territory, Canada, during the Klondike Gold Rush at the end of the 19th century. What is really unique about this novel is that it tells how it is like living in a den out in the wild, how White Fang first understands the wildness and what he learns about the law of life from the very first moment he was born. It explains what his first impression of humans is and he's struggle to survive in a world dominated by them. It is a beautiful story about dogs, wolves and north lands, that's why I will suggest it to anyone who loves wildlife.
