PERFUME-MORE FROM THE MOVIE

Now you can watch Perfume on DVD. And..since there is no way to convey smell in the medium of film, director Tom Tykwer replaced this sense with music, evoking the moods and sensations which are created by the smells, making the music the key element of the movie.

SAVE AMERICA'S WOLVES

Mike Senator, the new head leader of Defenders of Wildlife's legal team is flying to Missoula, Montana for Monday's hearing in federal court on their motion to stop the wolf hunts in Idaho and Montana. I wish him luck! More than 27,000 Defenders supporters (including myself) have sent emails or called the White House, and more than 3,000 people have supported their legal efforts with emergency donations to the Campaign to Save America's Wolves. With the help of caring people like you, Defenders of Wildlife helped lead the fight to restore wolves to the northern Rockies and were able to stop the killing of wolves in Wyoming and restore vital protections for wolves in that state!

Anyway..here's the video

LASSIE

There are some stories that continue to live on in our imagination, stories of animals who prove themselves worthy of our care and affection. Lassie is one of these stories. The character of Lassie was created by Eric Knight in the short story "Lassie-Come Home" in 1938, and after as the novel with the same name in 1940. The story set in England is about a young boy who owns an exceptionally beautiful collie. When his family faces some economic problems, the dog is sold to a wealthy nobleman, so the new owner transports Lassie hundreds of miles away, to his estate in Scotland. However, the dog's instinct and courage cause her to escape, and the book follows Lassie's desperate efforts to return to the boy she loves. In 1943, the book was made into the first Lassie movie-a hit who enjoyed favorable critical response-which followed the plot of the book. MGM followed its success with more movies featuring the canine hero. Soon, the TV series Lassie was broadcast in the U.S. who wan two Emmy Awards. Lassie is one of only three animals to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; the others being Rin Tin Tin and Strongheart. In 2005 Variety journal named Lassie one of the 100 Icons of all time-the only animal star on the list.

THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE

The Exorcism Of Emily Rose (2005) - Original Trailer - For more funny videos, click here

Based on a true story The Exorcist of Emily Rose chronicles the haunting trial of the priest accused of negligence resulting in the death of the young girl believed to be possessed. What's really frightening about this movie is that it deals with a subject everyone knows is real. In this movie the possession and exorcism scenes are equally disturbing, violent and extreme, which makes the entire movie believable without the use of visual effects. More than a criminal negligence case, the trial becomes about the importance of recognizing the limits of rationality and the possibility of a world beyond the visible. The movie is based on the true story of Anneliese Michel, a German college student who believed she was possessed by multiple demons, including Lucifer. In 1975, several years after Michel had started suffering from extreme seizures and unexplained behavior, the Catholic church gave her priest permission to perform an exorcism. Various rituals were performed at least once a week for ten months until, in July of 1976, Michel died of starvation. She had claimed for months that the demons would not allow her to eat. Her parents and the priests who officiated the exorcism were brought to trial on charges of manslaughter and sentenced to to six months in prison. "Beg for Absolution" is the last statement Anneliese made to the exorcists before she died. Specialists claimed that if the accused would have begun with forced feeding one week before her death, her life would have been saved. One sister told the court that Anneliese didn't want to go to a mental home where she would be sedated and forced to eat. The exorcists tried to prove the presence of the demons playing taped recordings of strange dialogues like the one where two demons were arguing about which one of them would have to leave Anneliese's body first. On the other hand, the psychiatrists said that the priests had provided Anneliese with the contents of her psychotic behavior, claiming she accepted her behavior as a form of demonic possession. CHRIS KRAMER and the FAMILY THEATER PRODUCTIONS

Chris Kramer seems a restless spirit. Though he can talk openly and widely about the faith, he prefers to put that faith into action. Chris's most recent work with Family Theater Production was as a feature celebrity and assistant director for a DVD called "Rosary Stars:Praying the Gospel" which features 21 young-adult Catholic celebrities offering personal reflections on the Rosary and its role in their lives. Although Chris Kramer is concentrating on his acting career, his ambitions are multi-layered. He and several friends have recently started a production company in the hopes of developing material. He's exploring writing and directing as well. Chris is content with where his career is right now and where it's headed. "Because we are made in the image and likeness of God, we're supposed to strive after perfection. So in everything we do, whether work or play, we are supposed to do with the attitude of trying to do it perfectly" he says. Father Wilfred Raymond, executive director of Family Theater Production admires the depth of Chris's faith and knows full well the temptations that surround him in the industry. "Mainstream Hollywood has, in my opinion, a lot of good people working in it. But, many of them have to hide the fact that they're Christians or practising Catholics. There are a lot of very good people trying to work in this industry and trying to make a difference. Chris is like 90 percent of young people. At some point they have to go through a period when they put aside the faith that their parents gave them . Chris is a good model-someone who went through a very difficult struggle to get to where he is." Father Willy has high hopes for Chris, both as an actor and as a person of faith. "My hope for Chris, on the personal level, is that he continues to grow in his faith. Professionally, I think Chris will do very well. He's highly disciplined as an actor, which is very deceiving because he seems very casual and laid-back." "My dad used to pray the Rosary over my bed when I was 3 years old", Chris says. "It was one of the means that brought me back into faith. To this day I still pray a daily Rosary. Prayer is basically a conversation. It's just like any relationship that we have on earth. With God or with Mary or any of the saints-you need to spend the time with them." (americancatholic.org)

The MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA

Memoirs of a Geisha - Trailer - Click here for more amazing videosMemoirs of a Geisha is a novel by Arthur Golden, published in 1997. The novel, told in first-person view, tells the fictional story of a geisha working in Kyoto, Japan, before and after World War ll. The novel is told from the point of view of Sayuri Nitta, a retired geisha in her 70s, living in the Waldorf Towers in New York. She is interviewed by Jacob Haarhuis, a professor at New York University, who is credited as the story's translator, although he is fictional character himself. The story is told in a flashback format, with continuous references to the time between Sayuri's career and the time she is being interviewed. The word "geisha" summons images of beautiful women dressed in exquisite kimono, serving sake to businessman in paper-paneled rooms. These charming figures embodying the Japanese ideal of beauty, politeness and perfection have long captivated people, only to be wrongly labeled as high-class prostitutes. The casting of the film caused much controversy due to the fact that the three main roles were given to Chinese actresses. Many Chinese were outraged as the Chinese characters often use for the word "geisha" can easily be misspelled to mean "prostitute". At a time when relations between Japan and China are at an all-time low, the idea of Chinese women portraying what many Chinese mistakenly believed to be Japanese prostitutes is the ultimate insult! Much of the movie was shot on location in Japan, utilizing locations rarely seen in films. However, the back streets of Kyoto were too modern to be used, so sections of the city were re-created on three sound stages in Los Angeles.

PERFUME

How could the story of an eccentric 18th-century murderer fascinate so many readers? It's all about the desire for recognition, to be loved, to be seen, to be somebody and the idea that there's a genius hiding in everyone, and if it were unleashed, the world would be stunned! It's a myth we all carry within ourselves. Based on the best-selling novel by Patrick Suskind, "Perfume-The Story of a Murderer" is a story of a deadly obsession set in 18th-century France. Jean Baptiste Grenouille, orphaned as a newborn in the streets of Paris, is alone in the world. A peculiar child who rarely speaks, Grenouille is alienated from others but blessed with a remarkable gift. His sense of smell is so refined, so attuned to every blade of grass and blossoming flower, that it's tragic when he's sold into servitude to a tannery at the age of 13. But there comes a day when Jean-Baptiste discovers the object that will transform his life: perfume. Eager to learn the art of creating sophisticated fragrance, he proves to be a savant whose almost mystical knowledge of scent surpasses anything that can be taught to him by masters of the craft. When he discovers the most intoxicating scent he has ever experienced-the natural fragrance of a beautiful young girl-he learns that the only method to preserve her innocence and fresh beauty will require murder. The novel has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, has been translated into 45 languages(even Latin) and continues to appear on "must read" lists in publications such as Oprah and In Style. Everything written here is taken from the Perfume Official Site. For more information go to http://www.perfumemovie.com/. You can also check The Thierry Mugler Perfume Coffret.
